The home provides its residents with protection and a space for physical and emotional recovery. Personal responsibility and a peaceful, respectful community life are at the heart of its values.

The facility can accommodate up to 13 people. It features its own clothing room, adequate sanitary facilities, a spacious common area with dining room, and a well-equipped kitchen. Residents have the opportunity to do their own laundry, take care of their meals independently, and are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the home.

The length of stay varies: while the home was initially used mainly by travelers seeking short-term respite, it increasingly offers refuge to men from the local area
who have lost their housing. Because many residents consider their dogs important companions, pets are also welcome at the home.

Social worker Kai Tubbesing is the main contact person for the residents. He supports them with official appointments, legal proceedings, medical care, and finding simple employment, as well as providing personal counseling.

Thankfully, many residents successfully transition to independent living, with support in finding their own housing.

All expenses are fully covered by donations; no government subsidies are accepted. The home is operated and managed by the association "Ad Quintam – Haus der Hilfe e.V.," which is exclusively dedicated to social causes. Its active members are primarily shareholders and employees of the Peter Mertes KG.
